Heavy Metal Halloween—TFO-style

We’ll be returning to our back-to-basics examination of those wonderful, classic Universal Studios horror flicks in a day or so (up next: The Invisible Man), but right now, I want to take a minute to do you a favor and hip you to a Halloween bash that will not be ignored. Trust me, if you’re anywhere near Sacramento, California, on October 31, 2010, you are not going to want to miss this party. In fact, I’m afraid the word “party” will not suffice. Hmmm, how about…blowout? No, that’s not right. Maybe…soiree? Yikes, let’s try…fete? Ack. Nope, the only word that serves is ORGY.

Yes, it’s time for those inmates running the overthrown asylum known as Trash Film Orgy—the very cool horror collective behind such fun flicks as Monster From Bikini Beach, Cheerleaders From Hell and the upcoming Planet of the Vampire Women—to emerge from their crypt once again. This coming All Hallows Eve, they are presenting a little something they like to call Heavy Metal Halloween! That’s right, it’s an unbelievable night of Metal, Murder and Mayhem from Beyond the Grave, featuring live (“undead” may be more accurate) bloody stage shows, audience participation, games, costume contests, prizes and oh so much more.

The location is, of course, the stately, historic Crest Theatre (1013 K St., 1-800-225-2277) in beautiful downtown Sacremento. This is going to be an early event—the perfect activity to get you primed for your planned Halloween debauchery. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. for fun lobby games, pre-show activities and music from Deejay Pit Boss. And remember, if you’re a Trash Film Fan who’s 21 or older, there will be a bar serving your favorite alcoholic beverages. Please drink responsibly to ensure no real-life horrors occur.

The show starts at 9:00 p.m. with unique TFO trailers and shorts reminding you of the Evils of Rock and Roll, as well as an amazing stage show, to be followed by the kickass feature presentation. TFO has lined up a good one this year: a 35mm presentation of Trick or Treat, the somewhat cheesy, highly entertaining 1986 heavy metal fright fest, with cameos by rock legends Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne. SEE what happens when a high school misfit resurrects his heavy metal hero from beyond the grave! It’s a terrifying tale of revenge and rock and roll! (The hardcore film fan can look for noted ‘70s actors Charles Martin Smith and Elaine Joyce, who pop up in minor roles.)

All seats are $10—but if you show up in an awesome, supercool costume and ask for the Metal Discount, you’ll save $1 at the door and be eligible to win big prizes in the costume contest.

So, there you have it, my friends. I’ve taken care of your Halloween plans for you. No need to thank me. I mean, it’s simple arithmetic: Trash Film Orgy + Heavy Metal + Halloween = AWESOME!
